Alaska Sampler

Day 1 – Arrival

Arrive Anchorage international airport. Your guide will meet you and escort you to Anchorage Sheraton hotel, where you can rest and recover from jet-lag in comfort, or explore Anchorage on your own. Shopping, museums, theaters, and great restaurants are all a short walk from the hotel.

Day 2 – Alaska Railroad and Sea-life Center

We’ll start the week off right with a gorgeous morning ride on the Alaska Railroad from Anchorage to the port-town of Seward. This extraordinary excursion takes you through the pristine mountains of Southeastern Alaska where you can view glaciers from the track. Cruise in the first-class glass-covered upper deck and view natural wonders and wildlife right from the comfort of your seat. Upon arrival in Seward, tour the fishing docks, unique local shops, and head to the Seward Sea-life Center.  Learn about the complex and beautiful ecosystem we will experience the following day.  An evening meal fresh seafood, or Alaskan King Crab overlooking the docks is the perfect way to end the first full day in the Land of the Midnight Sun.

Day 3 – Sea Kayaking and Exit Glacier

We will start the day with Kayak training at the shore.  We will learn how to paddle, get comfortable in our boats and learn safety protocol.  Afterwards we will board our water taxi for a short trek out Resurrection Bay to our kayaking start point.  From here on enjoy the pristine beauty of Caines Head as we paddle leisurely along the breathtaking shoreline.  We are sure to see otters, sea lions, and many other wild animals in this pristine maritime environment.  You are sure to take home photographs from this excursion that you will treasure for a lifetime!  In the afternoon we head to Exit Glacier.  Get a glimpse of age old ice, the cool breeze flowing down over the ice and the tingling cold of miniature waterfalls.  We will explore as far into the ice as you wish.

Day 4 – Fly-out Salmon Fishing and Bear Viewing

Today in the morning we board a float plane and fly across the Cook Inlet to pristine wilderness. We will land on a wilderness lake where expert guides will help you learn to fish for red salmon. While we fish we will see wild black and grizzly bears who come to the water’s edge looking for fish to eat. This trip is a photographer’s dream, and a fish-lover’s delight. Day 5 – Shooting and Wildlife Refuge

This morning try your hand at Rifle and Hand Gun Marksmanship.  With our professional instruction you will receive safety orientation and one on one training.  Our aim is to provide an introduction for first timers and clear instruction for seasoned marksman.  Afterwards, we’ll drive to Girdwood, Alaska, for a wonderful summer-time afternoon at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center.  Learn about the wild animals of Alaska, their history and the current challenges they face.  We’ll return to Anchorage for the evening where you can explore Alaska’s largest city and enjoy a fine meal at a rustic brew-pub or an Alaskan Seafood hotspot.


Day 6 – Talkeetna and Denali

Today we head north to Talkeetna, base camp for mountaineers headed to Mt McKinley.  This quirky climbing community is a wonderful introduction to Alaska mountaineering and liftoff point for our flight to Mt McKinley.  We board our flight for a trip of a lifetime headed up the Ruth Gorge, deepest in the world, for a glacier landing on Mt McKinley.  You will be overwhelmed by the pure size of everything around you and your smallness in the midst, breathtaking.  On return to Talkeetna enjoy a brief stroll or bite to eat at the famous Talkeetna Roadhouse.

Day – 7 Depart

Have a casual breakfast, relax at the hotel, or continue shopping until the time of your flight. We limit each tour to no more than six people. This allows us to offer the finest personalized service to meet your expectations and desires.
